Well, I have finally done it. I have run speaker leads from the loudspeaker lugs (Diatone) through a hole in the back of the enclosure, then straight to the AKSA power board.
Got rid of a lot of solder joints, banana plugs and banana sockets.
Boy, did that clean things up.
The joy of DIY.

Hi Malcolm

So, what did it sound like?

Was it a bit better or a lot better?

Cheers

Ian

PS  Did that email I sent you about the various cables reach you?

Hi Ian

Removing the banana sockets just made the whole experiwnce better. All of a sudden, all of the tracks on Dylans "Time Out of Mind" were intelligible, and made sense, not just track 7 (Not Dark Yet).

I have now done the same with my IC's.
One end is terminated in Eichmanns. The other end are directly soldered to the selector switch. All good.

I have not received any info on your audition of the cables. Did you PM me within Audiocircle, or send me an email?

Mal,

I confess I'm a bit worried about you.

Tracks on Dylan's album 'intelligible'?   :jester:

What are you smoking?  A couple of days back I was listening to 'Blonde on Blonde' (I guess that's how you would stack 'em if you had too many in one place...... ) and marvelling at just how unintelligible the lyrics really were!  God, I loved that guy!!

Cheers,

Hugh

Hi Malcolm

I PM'ed you with my impressions so I don't know what happened along the way.  It is not an understatement to say that I am not computer savvy.

I've really got to set aside some time to finish my amp!

But this is a picture of the rear of the amp with some strain free connectors, allowing both the power cord and interconnects to be hard wired to the board.
