An interesting movie. I felt it was almost really good. There were numerous moments that felt like this was really going to take off, but it never really did for me.
Crowe and Gosling together had the makings of chemistry, but it never seemed to gel right.
Pretty much stolen by Angourie Rice as Gosling's daughter. She had great screen presence and had a role that allowed her to shine.
For me the star of the movie though is the combo of 60's/70's cars and the soundtrack. Sure there were mistakes with some of the cars (movie set in 77, numerous cars newer than that if you are a car nut) and the music (same idea that there was music from newer than 77, but it all felt right) but in the end it all worked to set a scene from the mid to late 70's.
I really liked Crowe's Olds Toronado. A very overlooked car in the collectible world, and a direct competitor to my own 69 T Bird.
Worth a look if you are on a plane and need a movie to watch.
I am surprised at the Rotten Tomatoes reviews, they all seemed to love it more than I did.
