Considering one or the other, but haven't heard either so am looking for opinions.  Plan is to transfer my High Res files to a USB SSD and play from there.

The Oppo is highly regarded in the audio community, acknowledged as superior to many others at 2X the price or more. I have not heard any comments on the Cambridge. I have the Modwright Truth version of the Oppo, and it is superb, IMO better than a $10K player. There are other modders too, none that I know of available for the Cambridge. IMO. that speaks for itself. Additionally, the Oppo is a universal player, and thus plays SACD, BlueRay, HRx, HDAD and anything else available too. It needs a monitor to access  and enjoy all the menus, so that has to be taken into consideration.

The monitor needs to be connected via a HDMI cable. Not sure if the mobile app would suffice, as I haven't used it.

If you're talking about the IOS App for the Oppo 103 and 105 to access music files, it works fine.  I've used it with an old iPhone 5 I have laying around.  The Oppo interface of folders is just basic anyway.  I have a 50 inch TV in the room as well.  For my old BDP-93 in the bedroom system, which feeds the outdoor speakers, I grabbed a cheapo Android Tablet at Sam's Club (it was $80 after a $20 instant rebate).  I wrote Oppo about a similar App for the 93 and they answered my email in an hour (how's that for customer service) indicating they have an Android App and don't have the current resources to devote on the older players.  I had use for the tablet anyway in a secondary system with a music server.  Apparently Sam's Club now has the same tablet for $30 off (I got mine early in the year) -
