I work for a long-term care facility in NE Pennsylvania. We are a 501(c)3 county affiliated nursing home. We are seeking to build a library of music (cd's) and movies (dvd's) for our residents to enjoy. A donation acknowledgement will be sent to anyone who donates for income tax purposes.

Hoping that some AudioCircle members would be willing to contribute as more and more of us switch to "hard drive storage" and divest ourselves of physical media.

Donations can be sent to:

Pleasant Valley Manor
 c/o Jeff Rinker
 4227 Manor Dr
 Stroudsburg PA 18360

Obviously as most of our residents are senior citizens, selections sent should be "age appropriate" please! :)

Hoping this campaign will generate some interest!

You are welcome to visit our website: www.pvmnh.com

IF THIS IS AN "INAPPROPRIATE POST, SOMEONE PLEASE FLAG IT FOR DELETION!!

Would you accept action adventure DVDs such as "The Matrix"? Or is that a bit too much for your residents?

How about VHS tapes?  (PM me if that works.)

I recall years ago being in a nursing home during an "activity" labeled ball room dancing.  It amounted to a couple dancing to a boombox and occasionally bringing on of the residents into the center of the room (dance floor) to "participate" (sitting in her wheelchair while he held her hand and twirled around her).  Eventually the music shifted to disco and I thought: "If I get to a nursing home and by then have to listen to rap music, someone would die (me or someone else).   :)"

In other words, keep the donations in mind for 90 years old.  Stuff from WWII +/- 20 years would be perfect.

Matrix is a bit too "young" for our residents!

We actually have a sound system which was donated by an AudiogoN user several years ago - a Sony receiver and an 333ES CD changer along with some Canton speakers.  Receiver may be on its last legs though  :( so if anyone has one of those to donate that would be great too!

as for music, WWII era up thru the 50's is the MOST popular but some 60s music is requested as well ... someday we will be listening to LedZep or Pink Floyd!!

re: VHS - we do not have any VHS players in house any longer ... I actually ran a GoFundMe campaign for LED TVs and DVD players ... details on that are here:  http://www.gofundme.com/ljdu94

thanks!!
