Funky Resistors on 2b lp
« on: 28 Mar 2015, 05:01 pm »
Hi.

Opened up my 2b lp and found 2 resistors that appear to have the paint on them peeled off, they don't look burned though.they are on the exact same place on both of the boards on this amp.DO you guys think they need replacing? It's the one on the top left hand side.

Only if the amp is not working....but as my Dad always said "if it ain't broke...don't fix it" :)

HI rob60b

Thanks for the reply, but i will be getting those resistors replaced.  I've been told that whats happening to them is an indication of too much heat.I agree to a point that if it aint broke don't fix it.But in this case not fixing it might make this amplifier very broke. And it deserves a better fate than that, its truly a remarkable little amplifier that i intend to keep as long as i can. It's 30 years old already and hope to get a lot more years out of it.

Thanks

Looks like evidence of overheating to me.

I would have them replaced.

Well if you haven’t done so make sure you start here.

One could also probably send the 2B to Bryston for a complete overhaul..$$$…but if it’s past warranty it is always fun to DIY. :thumb:
