The leather look seemed appealing at first but I'm veering towards a smoother finish or perhaps even a combination of the two in different areas of the cabinets.  That last finish is really nice and would be good for areas where you need a little traction.

Are you using the roll-on version of Duratex or the spray-on version?

They are up and running!  The wiring is temporary until I can add connectors and better wire.  So far they are very impressive.  They might even be too much for my 12x16 room!  Of course they're still breaking in.

Does anyone have any tips for amp settings?

Cool  8)  After  they  fully break in, you'll be able  to tune them to suit your rom perfectly

Enjoy them  Corndog  !!

Looking good Rob!

Somewhere on Danny's circle is a picture of the settings as a starting point. I have a copy but you don't have an email under your avatar. Shoot me an email and I'll send it to you, don't think I can copy in a PM.

Or maybe someone else can point to the location.

I'm jealous.  :(

My room and WAF make these difficult for me.

Remember,  there are no "wrong" settings, experiment

You could  do some  OB 8's , and if  desired, plop a pair of  Wedgies on top   When Danny  finishes  the  Wedge shaped subs,  I imagine  the complete package will  be  quite slender/sleek looking  and have  decent WAF   :thumb:

Looking great!

Once your better wire arrives, keep them very short by moving the amps as close as possible to the subs.

Love the old apartment. Plaster walls! New apartments (and even houses) have just textured sheetrock, often with no insulation in the interior walls. Sound goes right through them!

I live in a 100 year old apartment complex.  It's a nice building close to Lake Michigan.  High ceilings!

After several hours of running the Ayre Acoustics system enhancement disc (https://www.ayre.com/acc_cd.htm) They seem sufficiently broken in.  I can't comment on some of Ayre's claims but I could see the woofers moving during the glide tracks which I'm sure gave them a good stretch.

Last night I listened for a few hours at roughly 60-65 db and the bass was perfectly integrated with whatever I threw at it.  I could easily hear kick drums, bass guitar and other low frequency effects and all without disturbing my neighbors.  I walked into the next room and could barely hear the music much less the improved bass!  Exactly what I wanted!
I was concerned about the space requirements but they really don't require too much extra real estate to sound good.  Sound wise they seem to disappear and just play the music effortlessly.  It's fascinating to hear the difference with and without them.  I thought the Statiks sounded pretty great by themselves but now seem thinned out without the subs.  I totally get what Jay wrote about them adding more to the soundstage.  They just seem to bring many recordings to life in a way I've never heard before.  Classic rock has never sounded better!

It's not the cheapest solution but as is often the case, you get what you pay for.  With Danny and Brian you get WAY more than you pay for!  :thumb: :thumb:

I've been spoiled by my current 10' ceilings. My speakers are line-source planars (one pair 5' tall, the other 6'), so the extra height doesn't lessen any non-existent "ceiling-splash", but when I walk into a room with 8' ceilings I feel claustrophobic! Adding Danny's OB subs are the best thing a planar owner can do to improve his system.
