FS: Von Schweikert VR5 Anniversary MK2's Sold

Exceptional Opportunity! One of Kind  - hand-built by Albert Von Schweikert himself. As gift of friendship, he selected all drivers for best quality and matched them (left to right) within one tenth of a decibel throughout their range and matched internal damping within three tenths of an ounce. These exact tolerances result in unrivaled stereo imaging and revelation of detail.

These are the most advanced model of the esteemed VR5 line, being VR5 Anniversary MK2 and include all possible upgrades including WBT platinum binding posts for bi-wiring or bi-amping, all Adelphi Aerospace Masterbuilt Signature series internal wiring, and the revolutionary triple wall cabinet with crushed stone, polymer and high density MDF. This cabinet beats heavy duty aluminum and X material cabinets in terms of inertness resulting in the cleanest sound possible. The finish is the rare (discontinued as too expensive to manufacture)  beautiful African Hazelwood with terrific WAF. The speakers are only two years and a half years old.

I am the original owner and they have not been moved since placement. Speakers are in as new condition mechanically and the same cosmetically except for a light scratch on the side cabinet, visible only in direct sunlight from three feet away. All original parts, manuals, wooden shipping crates and outside packing boxes included.

These speakers sound terrific! They are clear, clean, dynamic, liquid, with a fabulous sound stage and able to reveal the subtlest detail without grain, edge, or distortion. They mate well with quality solid state and tubed gear, work in a smaller room and will fill a space such as mine (38' by 24') with glorious sound. They go down to 20Hz in room response so no need for subwoofers. They produce a wide sweet spot  and lots of air due to the adjustable rear firing ambiance tweeter and are not picky in terms of placement. I have gotten excellent results close to the front wall, as well as further into the room. I am a musician and they are the only speaker that was delightfully close to the sound of a 7 foot grand piano in the same room as a direct comparison.

They use the highest quality drivers, capacitors and crossover parts available. The tweeter is the flag ship Scan Speak R2904/7000-05 Revelator. Midrange is an advanced 6.5" mineral and fiber composite from ACC in France. Woofers are double  9" SEAS Excels from Norway. They are efficient at about 94db sensitivity. They are 44" high by 11" wide by 24" deep, and weight about 290 lbs each in their shipping crates.

Reviewers state that they have heard systems utilizing speakers costing  50K to 100 K that did not hit all right buttons half as hard as the VR 5 Anniversary. And these MK2's are even better.  Google "Von Schweikert VR5 Anniversary Mark II Review" to see my review of the speaker. You are welcome to audition in my home. There are eight years of the ten year warrantee remaining, transferable to the new owner. Albert says that you are welcome to call him directly to discuss this unique pair of speakers. You are also welcome to call me at (828) 698-4815 or email at joe@SyncCreation.com.

List Price: $38,000. Sell for $18,500. Ship can include local pickup Zip Code 28739. I have 100% rating on the Gon.

Today trapped by snow and ice and listening all day I am feeling crazy to do so, as they are sounding so right.

In talking with Albert he felt that the new $60K VR55 actives which have amplified and adjustable bass, would allow me to boost the lowest bass a bit to compensate for my huge room (38 foot by 22 foot, open on one end) without use of subwoofers (which I hate, and my wife hates more). I am an organ music lover and those last few deepest notes 16-25 Hz are important to me.
The VR 5Anni MK2s in room response  is 20HZ to 70 Hz with terrific bass that is articulate, tuneful, dynamic, weighty, and liquid but I just want pressurize the room more on those last few notes and the 55s go down to 16HZ.
