Audeze came out with a big surprise: a 1200 ohm impedance headphone

Yeah, OTL amps :) there is a good number of options to consider.

Audeze also claimed that there are Solid state amps which are capable of driving it (e.g. the Soloist)

I suppose "OTL" means different things to different people, but I'd say a tube preamp with a good output stage would do it.
