Aside from the expense,   Would the Seas woofers work in a MTM configuration?

What are the rules in an D'Appolito configuration?

Well, you would have to find a new tweeter as the resulting sensitivity would be too high (probably around 98db).  But other than wanting higher sensitivity, I'm not sure what you would gain.

Jim, regarding an MTM configuration...what about the benefit of the acoustic center of Mid/Tweeter now lining up?  With the SS8s, I'm aware the tweeter is on top.  With the HT2-TLs it seemed to disappear into the mid drivers.  These were different times, different systems, different places though, so by no means represents an exhaustive listening test.
