Cool running 5 channel Amp
« on: 30 Nov 2014, 10:42 pm »
Hi all, my kids keep forgetting to open the stereo cabinet subjecting my wonderful bryston 9 to possible heat damage.  So im looking for cool running 5 channel digital (aka class D , class T, switching etc) amp.  I can think of, D-sonic, wyrd for sound and maybe nuforce.  Am i forgetting any brand in my research?

Of course the ulitmate question is,  if any of these amps can come close to the bryston.  That may be a seperate thread al to itself.  :P

thanks for any comments

I run 5 Channel Islands Audio mono blocks. They are Class D and sound terrific. They take up a little more space than a single 5 channel amp.

Rotel, NAD, perhaps Cambridge Audio, Spectron, Bel Canto design?

How about sticking some exhaust fans in the back of the cabinet? Looks like you may be able to turn them on automatically when the Bryston is turned on using the 12v trigger on the unit.

Not a 5-channel amp, but NAD has the Masters Series M27 7 channel X 180W @ 8 Ohm Hypex nCore based amplifier for $4K.

Very nice looking piece.

Exactly. You could do that for less than $50 and have enough CFM to keep the entire cabinet cool.
