JRiver 20
« on: 2 Oct 2014, 07:09 pm »
    I just installed JRiver 20.

What I want to do is transfer my Itunes library to JRiver.

Is there a way to do it all at once?

Any and all help is appreciated.

                                 Thank You

You might check the jRiver forums or wiki to see if someone else has wanted to do this.

Unlike iTunes, JRiver monitors folder locations, and the locations can be configured to automatically add new files.

Go to Tools > Options > Library & Folders and add the folder locations you want it to monitor (Configure auto-import).  If you want JRiver to update from external changes to the files, check the "Update for external changes" check box under Configure auto-import > Tasks.

- If your iTunes library has .wav files, all of the metadata is contained in the iTunes database and won't be available in JRiver

- If your Cover Art was automatically downloaded in iTunes (or added with the Get Album Artwork command), that will also be contained in the iTunes database and won't show in JRiver.  Album Artwork that was added manually (pasted into the Artwork field in Get Info) in iTunes will be part of the file metadata and will show in JRiver.

You can either have JRiver get missing Cover Art from the Internet, or any Artwork in iTunes that is copied and pasted back into the Artwork field (Get Info) will then become part of the file rather than stored in the database.

I maintain both an iTunes Library (for 3 Airport Express remote locations) as well as the JRiver Library for the main location.  If I add the files to iTunes first they will appear in JRiver automatically.  If I add them to JRiver first, then I also have to manually add them to the iTunes Library.  My JRiver Library also contains DSD and FLAC files that iTunes cannot import.
