Dayton speaker stands - SSMB24

I wanted to drop a note about a set of Dayton speaker stands I picked up used here near Toronto in Canada.  They are the 24 inch SSMB24 model.

I have been looking for some decent speaker stands since picking up a set of Totem Model 1's.  In the past when I owned Totem Rokk I used a set of Atlantis Reference stands and LOVED them.  I sold them off a number of years ago.

The Dayton's are less stiff when empty, but once you fill the 3 tubes, they do a fine job.  I used kitty litter (yes it was clean!) since I had some on hand.  Took about 7-8 pounds per stand to fill them.

Up and running, and doing a good job vs the really light single post NHT's I had initially been using.

Well worth considering if you are looking for C&C speaker stands.

Good find. I hope they treat you as well as your old stands.

I have yet to fill my four-post stands as they don't yet have a permanent position (at 60 pounds empty, I dislike moving them around).

Enjoy!

Those Atlantis ones once filled with sand become a very fun exercise to move around!

Here are a couple of pics of the new stands.

The speakers are closer to the wall (around 14 inches) than they will be once I find a small affordable sub.  Until then, I will cheat a little extra bass from them by having them closer to the wall.  I had them out 20-24 inches before, and it worked well, but in my large room it is hard on those little 5.5 woofers.

$65.50 retail at Parts Express is certainly cheap and cheerful.
