I turned my bro-in-law on to a pair of these that were available near him a while back. I had never heard them but I knew their rep and that they may work for his needs.
I finally got to hear them and now I have lust in my heart. I need them. Bad.
Visiting his just wont' do.

Prefer near SW VA but willing to drive or arrange shipment for the right pair.

Probably looking for the first version though I'd probably go for the right II or III.

I had the Mark II and would not recommend to get the first version, Mark III with the improved tweeter is very recommended. One of the many benefits is that they can be placed close to the wall. Snell B Minor are also very good.

I agree with polyglot. Stay away from the first version and look for the II or III.  I owned the Type II from new for almost 20 years and they are great speakers.  The woofers need re-working, but that is just an inconvenience.  My son has them now in Maryland.  I have tried to get them back from him and he is not willing.  Never heard the Mk III though some prefer them over the II's.
