I got my 12 year old to buy in that vinyl on daddy's big speakers sounds much better than mp3s on ipod or a laptop and headphone.  She is now actively looking to buy vinyl if available.  I have not yet allowed her to actually put a record on yet, but she is learning to turn the system on/off properly -- She is learning why preamp is on first and off last by understanding the signal path and power train.  She is learning how to handle records including cleaning the record using both the vacuum and ultrasound cleaning machines.  She is learning to handle the tone arms,  how to clean the needles and remove dust/static from the discs before playing.  Soon, she will do it herself with my supervision.

As for the music, I am getting to like the electronic, synthesized, bass heavy pop music.  We discuss tonality, melody, instrumentation and syncopated bass beats.  Some are better than others but I like that I am sharing music with my daughter. :thumb:

Well done!
I don't get to share music with my daughter very often, but when I do it's fun. I expose her to music I know she's never heard of that I think she'd like, whcih she generally does. But when i ask if she wants a copy to listen to in her room, she usually accepts, but I never hear it play. Not sure if she's just letting me have my fun, that when the time comes to be entertained, music takes a back seat to other stimuli (television).

Hi woodskyi
As per the list, our 12 years old only like female singer?

My 14 and 12 yo boys are into it too.  It is cool to see the interest, go to record shows/shops and start talking the "audiophile lingo."
The vinyl cleaning process is a nice bonus for us  8)  I guess it is a nice price to pay when some day they get to split dad's collection.
CJ actually has really good ears...better than mine me thinks.
