Has anyone heard the Druid?  The new Druid Comp?

I'm looking for a speaker, and I like the idea of high efficiency, b/c I like my SET's.  I will be listening to Galante Audio speakers later this week, and would like to make it down to listen to Living Voice, and Avant Garde before I make a purchase.

The Druids look very interesting. . .

Hantra,

I have the Druids. I have had them since last February, and I am literally picking them up today, as I just had them upgraded to the Druid 2 level. These speakers were absolutely amazing as the original version, level 2 should be a real treat! Thay have the largest soundstage I have heard and the detail is beautiful. If you check out my review over at HD (in the verified review section), you will see that I did some serious comparison testing with Martin Logan Odyssey's and Revel Ultima Salons. These speakers are a steal at their price, the only hard part is not being able to listen to them before you purchase, Zu does offer money back in home demo though. If you have any other questions, I would be more than happy to discuss them with you on the phone. Send me a PM with a number, and I will give you a call. :D

What are you driving them with?  I am thinking about leaving my SET amplification behind and going back to solid state b/c my speaker choices are limited to just a few right now, and the Druid is one of them.

Did you get to hear them before you bought yours?

Driving them with an Odyssey Stratos. I have the Zu Mother powercord on the Odyssey and Zu Ibis speaker cables to the Druids.

I did not get to listen to them prior to buying. I spoke many times with Zu and was assured that if I was not happy, they would even pay the freight back to them. They have a 60 day in home trial, so for @ $70 shipping for the pair, you can really get to know them.

This is one of the toughest things to decide on as it seems like a major leap of faith (being unheard), and also the commitment of receiving large packages VIA fedex and lugging them back if you are not happy.

There are a few other people that have purchased them, and others that tried and retuned them. Audiojerry has demoed them when they first came out, but returned them. I think that the reason was he could not get his sub to integrate with them (If this is incorrect Jerry, please correct me). The Druid 2 has much better Bass presence than the original version and the midrange is much smoother (not saying the original was not smooth, but there was room for improvement).

If you have any concerns, don't hesitate to call Zu, as they will honestly answer your questions. They have the best customer service that I have dealt with.
