PBS' Soundstage--recommended listening

Just watched this show for the first time---Cyndi Lauper was the performer.
If the future shows are as great, I'll be a happy puppy.
Joan Baez/ Gillian Welch are featured in the next show. Counting Crows/ Shelby Lynne in the batter's box.

Soundstage is one of my favorites.  I just wish they would keep the camera on the same shot for more than 1/2 a second.  It  makes me so dizzy when they quickly switch the camera angle.  I just want to smack the director.

Thanks for the heads up.  I'm glad to hear Soundstage is back.  It was the first good long-form music show I heard and definately set the standard for this format.  Only Austin City Limits even comes close.

Reading their site, it makes me feel very old that the original series went off the air in 1985.

One very nice thing about their website is you can set it to give you an email reminder for when a particular show is broadcasting in your area.  I'm looking forward to hearing that Gillian Welch show.

I'd add Sessions at West 54th to that list as well.  Unfortunately, I came late to that party since my PBS station frowned on the show; by the time I stumbled onto it, it was nearly defunct.  Wish they'd release more of the shows on DVD.

One of my favorite shows was the various incarnations of "Later" or "Late Night with David Sanborn" or "Sunday Night."  It was more of a variety show rather than focusing on one or two artists for the hour.  Wish THIS was on DVD as well.

If you have the Voom service, they show the 1st season archive in pretty heavy rotation on RAVE channel 125.  I can get the current season OTA from PBS, but the schedule is infrequent.  But it is a good show, and dazzling hi-def and surround.

Is it on regular NTSC TV also?
I watch it on HD (10' wide screen) and it's unbelievable!
I can't decide what's better: the picture or the sound?
:)

I've seen most of the shows, good stuff.

Watched Shelly Lynne last night.
