vifa pl18 bookshelf advice.
« on: 15 Jun 2014, 11:18 pm »
Hello all, I'm looking to build some bookshelf speakers reusing the drivers from
An pair of Eros mk2. A pair of scan-speak 9500 tweeters, and vifa pl18.
I need recomendations for a cabinet for the pl18 in a bookshelf
Size or small tower, (under 22 inches tall).
With what I've been able to figure out so far a single woofer I'd want about 15-18 liter size box?  Any sugestions?
I'll be using some nice plywood from a shipping box i got from work.
Good quality and nice finish.  I will be using hand tools (jigsaw, router, sander
And rotary saw, and plenty of glue and clamps)
With the lack of table saw , I would like the cabinet to be pretty simple.
The end pieces are 15" x 20" tall, and whole box is 46" long.
  Here's specs for the woofer.
Specifications: *Power handling: 100 watts RMS/140 watts max *Voice coil diameter: 1-1/2" *Voice coil inductance: .85 mH *Nominal impedance: 8 ohms *DC resistance: 5.8 ohms *Frequency response: 40-4,000 Hz *Fs: 39 Hz *SPL: 87 dB 1W/1m *Vas: .847 cu. ft. *Qms: 2.42 *Qes: .41 *Qts: .35 *Xmax: 6.0mm *Net weight: 3.75 lbs. *Dimensions: Overall Diameter: 7-1/4", Cutout Diameter: 5-3/4", Mounting Depth: 3", Magnet Diameter: 3-9/16", Magnet Height: 1-1/8".

Thanks for any ideas,  David
