android tablet into BDA-1 over USB
« on: 2 May 2014, 08:44 pm »
Hi,

Is it possible to connect an android tablet into a BDA-1 over USB?

I have done this into a windows laptop just as a test (many years ago)... but looking at my tablet settings,  it doesnt appear that I could change the output device to the BDA.

I am hoping to use the tablet to front end spotify... else I will need to use a laptop (which is more noisey and more cumbersome)

Thanks

Peter

Some will work. You'll need a USB OTG cable which is easy to grab on Amazon. Most android hardware will support it, but it's sometimes included in the rom, and sometimes not. Also, you may need to place a powered USB hub between the DAC and the tablet. It's hit or miss, and you'll need to research your specific device.

I have gone to plan C.

My new universal player is DLNA capable (I stream my music videos to it).

So I have installed  jamcast on the PC that streams my video... and use its virtual sound card to stream spotify to the universal player then onwards into the BDA-1

I will use a remote desktop app on the android tablet to manage spotify.

Thanks,

Peter

Another great app to try is "allstream airplay + DLNA" you can run spotify straight from your tablet without the hassle of RDP. super simple and works great.
