I've been using this technique for years.  Mismeasure, hit with hammer, mismeasure again, hit with a bigger hammer.  When you have used your largest hammer, throw it in the junk wood pile and repeat.  I have mastered the technique and am willing to give lessons for wine.   :wine:

Seriously, was anyone reminded of the Saturday afternoon karate shows in the 70s/80's where they broke planks of wood with their hands, feet and heads?
