Bill,

I haven't been able to audition the new 707A. I was wondering if you can describe the sonic differences between the 707A and the 302B. I am currently considering the 302B but thought I should look into the 707A before I make a decision. Also does the 707A have a remote volume control? If not can one be added to the 707A or 302B?

Thanks,
James

 Hi JYM,
Unless you are familiar with the characteristics of the EL34 and 6L6 (6P3P) tubes, it is very difficult to describe the sound.
Both these tubes are considered to be warm and seductive by nature with the 6L6 being a bit on the "fuller" side in comparison.

Many things would come into plat when considering which would be best suited for your personal taste.
 Listening Habbits
 Musical Taste
 Speakers
 Room
  ETC!!.

A few personal preferences and associated gear would better help to make recommendations but in the end, it is your ears that would be the deciding factor.

Remote volume? Jolida 302.... probably not in the conventional location at least. 707A......I would have to get back inside on again to see if it would fit.
I have a few remote units coming in and will initally be installed in the Jolida JD801 Reference sometime next week. At this time I will also be checing to see what other units will accomidate the physical size of the volume control. A small, remote volume, passive preamp is currently in the works to be associated with the units that are not able to internally house these pieces.

Bill,
Thanks for the quick reply.

I'm familier with the EL34 from listening to the 302B. I really enjoyed the warmth and smoothness of the 302B.

I plan on using the 302B or 707A with a stock JD100 cdp. I plan on rolling some tubes in after I get the amp. My speakers are PSB Stratus Silver i.

I mainly listen to smooth jazz or female vocals (Diana Krall, Sarah Mclachlan). I always listen at moderate volume in a 13x19 room.

thanks again....
James
