Looking to buy, an A-50/55T or PL Prologue 1 or 2 in good shape; or can trade, a sweet Cayin M-6...if you can stand a little less power, and would like to try 6V6s.

I had an A50T at one time and have very fond memories of it. It is an excellent amp and setting bias is very simple if you're looking for "classic" EL34 sound. I don't know how true this is, but supposedly auto bias circuits can affect the sound (as there's more circuitry involved), so just something to consider between the PL vs Cayin units. Oh, and the triode mode via remote is fun too, with the Cayin.

Thanks for the post; your points are well taken.

I guess I tacked the PL units on there, when I started thinking about...A-50 vs A-55 (EL34 vs. KT88...and will either of them use 6550s?). I was like "well...PLs let you do both"!

But I've heard the same thing about auto-bias; though I always thought, it was because it under-biased the tube...so as to never exceed plate voltage, with all these different tubes. I also forgot about UL/Triode with the Cayins; that would be nice.  :thumb:
