Conrad Johnson Classic Tube Preamp. This is the original version using two Mullard M8080/CV4058 preamp tubes. Line stage only, no phono section. I am the original owner, purchased new from retailer about 2-3 years ago. Has 5 inputs marked aux, tuner, video, tape and CD. Has 2 sets of outputs, so you can run a subwoofer from the second set of outputs. All the inputs and outputs are single-ended RCA, there are no balanced connections. The Mullard tubes can be purchased from CJ for about $90 the pair or from Watford Valves in the UK for about $50 a pair. I believe this preamp was rated a Stereophile Class B component. Very nice sounding tube preamp with CJ build quality. Like most tube equipment, it does sound better once the tubes have warmed-up for a while. The preamp has a soft-start circuit allowing the tubes to warm up about 20 seconds before playing. I don't really see any marks but rate it 8/10 to be conservative.
