Odyssey Khartago and REL Q201E
« on: 16 Feb 2014, 02:04 pm »
Hi all.
Another proud owner of a Odyssey Khartago amp, and very happy with it, and the customer service from Klaus.
I do have a question that someone, maybe Klaus himself can answer:
Hooking up the REL sub with speaker level Neutrik Speakon like REL suggest's, is there any danger to the amp,ie. the common ground scheme that seems to be in use?

From the manual.
Quote
High Level connections should be made to the same binding posts as the main speakers.
Connect as shown above. Red to amplifier main right speaker red terminal, yellow to amplifier main
left speaker red terminal and black to amplifier main speaker black terminal, right or left but not both.
Plug the Neutrik Speakon plug into the HI LEVEL Neutrik socket.

Some have suggested that the amp can be damaged, if the amp is designed a certain way.
Something about common ground.
So before I go about using the Speakon connection, I will wait for someone to chime in.
Line level for now...........................
Thanks again for a great product Klaus. 8)
Dave.

Since the Khartago is a standard design (so to speak), I don't see this being an issue with the REL and Speakon. It should be fine.

On that note, I'm not Klaus, so I could be totally wrong. But I would imagine that if the amp used something other than a common ground, it would be well noted in the owner's manual and/or on the site.
