Adding a Torus 2.5 to a BIT 15
« on: 7 Jan 2014, 11:58 pm »
I have a BDP-1, BDA-1, BP-6, 2B SST and a couple of SVS SB12-NSD subs, DSPeaker 2.0 dualcore and Paradigm x-30 crossover all plugged into the BIT 15. Would there be an advantage to adding the Torus 2.5 and plugging all the digital stuff into it?

Well I bought the torus anyway. I could use the 4 extra plugs. There's a clearance on them at Part Connection for $299.

Hawkeye99,
I also bought the Torus 2.5 from parts connection for my source components for my home theater. I hooked up the TV and an Onkyo preamp in about 5 minutes a shut down. I then hooked up just the TV also tried the preamp alone and had a similar experiences, another shutdown. Seems as if they are all thermal shutdowns. The box I received Torus in was destroyed. Bottom line how does yours work.

I have a Bryston Bit-20 no problems.

There was no issue with the box. It was in good shape. My BDP-1 shut down on an error once. I believe it was for an over or under voltage which I read could happen if plugged into conditioner. It only happened the once so far.

I moved my Torus, let it rest a night and tried it again. Plugged only the preamp into it and after about 2 hours the Torus shut down. The unit was very hot so I'm thinking it was a thermal shut down. I don't think the preamp in drawing that much current. I guess I'll be making some calls tomorrow.
