Hi all.
Has anyone installed and used any adjustable spikes that they're particularly impressed with?
I'm looking for two sets to use under a pair of subwoofers that will serve double duty as monitor stands. Because the subwoofers will act as stands, I want to use 4 spikes instead of 3 to ensure maximum stability of the stack, though I realize that this will complicate leveling relative to a tripod arrangement. While I'll definitely use the adjustability of the spikes to help level the system, I also intend to adjust the front pair of spikes on each subwoofer to dial in a specific amount of tilt to the stack. Given this, precise, consistent adjustments are important.
The subwoofer/monitor stack will be placed on low-pile carpet over a suspended floor, so no floor protection discs are needed. I'd prefer to have lower-profile spikes if possible, but this desire is secondary to function.
The various Dayton Audio spikes (Madisound/Parts Express) and their knock-offs appear to be the most common, but I wonder if something that requires a wrench for adjustment might allow for more precise height settings.
So... any suggestions based on personal experience?
Many thanks!
