New Years Resolutions
« on: 1 Jan 2014, 02:54 pm »
Does anyone still make them and attempt to keep them?
I know what mine are and they should be pretty easy to keep.

Don't screw up and make sure to buy all of the Zappa releases on vinyl when they come out
Buy two guitars (that will be a tough one but one is a done deal)
Do not get bored and stop playing the guitar (that will take dedication)
Take my wife out to see more live music (perhaps 3-4 concerts this year)
Spend more time with my wife (please, no more cooking shows, I'm beggin' ya...)
Enjoy what I have instead of driving myself crazy over something I don't have, probably don't really need and can't afford.

Anybody else?

Steve:

Good set of resolutions.  Maybe you could "tweak" the last one, though, to give yourself the gift of tweaking what you already own to get hidden improvements out into the open.

And then tell us all about it...   :)

Happy New Years, all!!

If you have a New Years Resolution(s) it just means you're aware of something you should have already acted on.  :)

My only resolution is to have high resolution playback for 2014.

I hadn't made a new years resolution until I read you statement above.  This is so true for me as well.

Hard work and good eating habits.  Seems simple, and it is, but you have to be committed.

December 1st I quit smoking, drinking and caffeine (a rough couple of weeks followed!). I also began eating much more healthy and back at the gym 5 days a week weightlifting. My goals for 2014 are rather simple...continue what I started December 1st!

Regarding music...I got an entirely new system around the beginning of December too and I'll be sure to enjoy it everyday throughout the year + play classical guitar more often and learn 1 song per month a write at least 3 songs this year.

2014 is starting out great!!!

Regards,
Jon

Had a pre-New Years Resolution that I followed through on since September and fulfilled. Lost 18 lbs, kept to the gym 2-3x/week and met my pre-defined goals in mid-November. But the holiday parties and rich food and such have bumped me back into some bad habits. So back on the diet and regular gym work. I figure I can be back to my original goals in a month with some diligence. Then it's just keep at it and make it part of my regular day.

Quit smoking and caffeine?
That must have been brutal.  I tried the stop smoking and snapped off a tooth in my sleep and the headaches from no coffee...
Face it, I'm an addict.
Losing weight is real easy - no white sugar, no white flour, no red meat and no booze which is real easy as I don't eat red meat or drink.
Eating almonds helps, too.

Well, I don't like to stick to the boring old new years resolutions. Most of that stuff you should be doing anyway. I like to keep mine fun and piffy.

How about do a hand stand everyday for a year; 365 days = 365+ handstands?

Done. I started on the 3rd but who cares  :thumb:

Steve,

The 1st week really sucked. Withdrawal big time and bad headaches. I still get an occasional headache, but from about the 3rd week on I had a lot more energy. My workouts went from 40 minutes to 1 1/2 hours (and still not tired!) and I can get by with less sleep while feeling better rested. Getting rid of all those toxins was the best thing I've ever done...took several months of planning beforehand.

Regards,
Jon
