Haven't seen many comments on T9's in the wild. I have an Ultra EC hybrid preamp, which is an older model I bought used off a forum member. Serial number below I guess puts it in the 2005 time frame?

I always wanted to jump into a tube setup, starting with a preamp. I know my unit has tubes in it as a hybrid, does a newer T9 unit seem more like a sidegrade than an upgrade because I'm switching technolgies?

Not so sure what I could expect coming from an older hybrid system to a brand new tube system.

Also if Frank sees this, my unit has remote and home theater pass through, curious as to whether these functions can stay (pretty sure the remote can) if the guts are replaced although the tone controls will be disabled.

Your Ultra EC preamplifier was built in May, 2007.

If you are going to upgrade, I suggest you go whole hog and upgrade to the Fet Valve CF circuits.

Yes, we will salvage and re-use the remote control and HT bypass functions.

Note that in addition to the great Fet Valve CF circuits (a new major and very positive review coming soon) the Fet Valve CF has an outstanding new headphone driver circuit standard and our new optional split passive EQ phono circuits are very special too.

Happy New Year All!
