Skipping CD tweak:
« on: 19 Dec 2013, 01:46 am »
Every time I have a CD that skips, cleaning the CD with ZEISS spray Lens cleaner for eye glasses fixes it every time. I also like to hit it with my Zerostat. Just thought I'd pass it on.

I use Auric Illuminator. Can't say it illuminates but does take care of most scratches.
Wirenut- I do believe you may be wound a little too tight (don't mean it but always wanted to say that).

Don't be sorry! Thanks for sharing. I know that my kids often use furniture polish on their game discs and it seems to work well.

Agreed !   I'm going to have to try it here,  we've got a bunch of movies / games that have been "worked over" by the kids,  hope it helps

Wire: Please don't be offended. It was all in jest. This is a good subject and I am
learning from it. I hate it when I or my wife put a scratch on a cd. I have repurchased
some because of it and will be trying your suggestion in the future.

I use windex on scratched and dirty looking used CDs.  :o

I saturate the playing surface of the cd with windex over the sink. I let the windex sit on the CD surface for a few seconds, then gently scrub the cd with a wet finger. I use tap water to completely rinse the windex off of the cd. Then, dry it with a cotton dish towel from the center inside out.

I never clean a new or clean looking CD but I do demagnetize them.

What do you use to demagnetize? I have been thinking about zerostat but can't get
anyone to verify if it really works well on cds.

Hi dflee,

I use the Acoustic Revive RD-3 disc demagnetizer. I bought it about a year ago and I notice a subtle but obvious improvement in most of the discs that I demagnetize. I think it is an accessory worth having if you are completely satisfied with everything else about your CD player, but you wonder what else you could do to squeeze the last bit of goodness out of each disc.

Kind of expensive, but super easy to use.

There is a new product on the bock called "Essence of Music" A CD treatment that is very affective. The most affective one we have used so far. The claim of the manf. is that the treatment eases the use of the error correction circuit as the disc is read by the lased more accurately. Hey don't rip me a new one only stating what they say. Dave Slagle turned me on to this product. If you know Dave he hates tweaky things. It really works quite well.  Thanks Dave.
