BP 1.5 Phono Stage - got one?
« on: 17 Dec 2013, 04:09 pm »

It certainly looks like 2014 will be the year a turntable will be finally added to my audio Xanadu - who would of thought? Over the last few years, the "Beasties" have never failed to put a smile on this tired old face may they delicately feeding the JBLs or summoning an all consuming tempest. Naturally, I am considering a Bryston phone stage so for the members who owns one - what sold you on the BP 1.5? Most likely I will pick up the turntable first and then audition a few phono stages - it will be interesting to compare the TT to the Esoteric.

Be well...

I have the BP-25MC is what I settle on,amp is a 3BSST,speakers are FS-788,use OPPO 105 for digital

Had a C220 Mcintosh

Before that I had a BP-26P

Had a VPI classic

Than a Clearaudio Concept MM

Now I have a Clearaudio Concept MC

So I found that to beat the Clearaudio concept you have to spend lots more,I did not take that route

To beat the Bryston phono,it is a matter of taste, tube phono was nice, but in the end always come back to bryston

To sum up Bryston does it for me at my age 50 plus, simple to use

Yes i own a Brystom BP 1.5 phono box.
I also own a decent Audio Research Sp-15 which has a nice three tube phono section in an otherwise all solid state two chassis preamp. (new $6,000 I paid $1,500)
And finally an Audio research PH-2 all balanced phono box solidstate (new $2,500 I paid $750)
They all are nice.
I use the Bryston all the time.
Clarity and a neutral sound. The Bryston wins.
Certainly other brands are out there.
If I had $6K to throw at a phono box I would buy a Manley Steelhead. No question.

Added: I use the Bryston with a Rega P5 and Benz Glider.
The Audio Research Sp-15 is with a Kuzma Stabi/Stogi S TT and Dynavector 17D3 cart
The Audio research PH-2 is with a Dual Golden One with a (25 years old) Dynavector Ruby23 cartridge.
