Remainder of description is from the Thor Audio manual:

                     Design Criteria

OBJECTIVE: To design a line of true high-end audio products
whose sole purpose is to remain faithful to the music and bring new life
and energy to the experience of listening.

Our approach, which borders on philosophy, is to work from and
utilize as close as possible a “back-to basics” design while never
allowing the restrictions of price to dictate any aspect of the design
or manufacture of our products.

The unique chassis was designed from a “form follows design”
approach. The tubes are mounted vertically in a totally free-air
environment, and are shielded on all sides. The circular chassis is also
as free from vibration resonances as possible as all vibrations lead to
the center and tend to cancel out.

Printed circuit boards in our units are also unique using only 1
oz copper. After careful listening, the “more is better” standard of 2 oz
copper made the deep bass exaggerated, thus giving an uneven
frequency response when music was played through it (as opposed to
just a test bench response check). We also have our PC boards
shipped to us with “bare” copper and put them through an individual
“electro-less” plating process using no solder. After repeated listening
tests, the standard solder flow plate to all paths creates a muddy upper
mid-range and somewhat strident high end, as solder is not the best
conductor by any means.

Essentially, the TA-1000 is a “hard-wired” design instead of using
PC board traces to carry the audio signal. All internal wiring is also
individually shielded. Production time drastically increases using this
approach, but it is by far the most faithful to the sonics.

Our input switch is custom-made for us and is rated at 3A
continuous use and made of coin silver. It also is hard wired, not PC
mounted, for the best signal transfer.
