Thinking of building a buffer w/ power supply.

Thanks

the input z is the grid resistor and the output z is the cathode resistor, see, easier than solid state!

G,

This is also an interesting brd. (Preamp, not passive.) Two 6H30's , one per chnl, must sound good.

Here's a thread on diyaudio about these:- http://www.diyaudio.com/forums/tubes-valves/171275-aikido-cathode-follower.html

Get the parts from him too, Broskie is a tube guy through-and-through and he knows what he's doing, they'll be good quality and they'll fit (my choice would be the 1% metal-film, not the carbon). His boards are all 2-oz copper, if I'm not mistaken.

I built an Aikido and am happy with the results.

A couple of issues did come up though...

- There were mistakes on the PCB, manual and parts issued. Not super difficult to figure out, but don't count on Broski helping you, because he probably will not.

- Broski does not answer his emails unless you are trying to order something. Once he has your money do not count on ever hearing from him again in any capacity, ever.

- DIY audio and other forums are familiar with his products and will help you if you need it.

I would recommend only buying the PCB from him if you want to use higher end parts.

Dave,

Care to share the mistakes you noted on the pcb? Which pcb?

Thanks,
Anand.

Hi Anand, it was the octal all-in-one kit and there was one mistake on the location of  resistor R22/23 on the PCB if I remember correctly  ...and a couple mistakes in the manual. I should also mention the manual wasn't the easiest to decipher either.

But despite these issues the PCB quality is excellent and so is the circuit design, so I do recommend the glassware products, but you need to understand you are basically on your own as far as assembly. There is a lot of support on the net though and it isn't that complicated, but people should be aware that this isn't a project for a total beginner.

I need to sell a few pieces of equipment,  after that I am going to try the 9 pin preamp or the buffer.  Using the 6dj8's.

Also use the ps 4.

Now, if I can figure out a sweet case for it.
