Okay, this wasn't my first choice of a movie!

But I OD'd on turkey and dressing and zoned and missed the last showing of
Philomena. Still wanted to see a flick tonite and I've seen everything else, soooo...
Delivery Man it is!
First off, it's based on a pretty silly premise, albeit one that maybe could occur nowadays. 20 years ago the protagonist of the film donates sperm to a fertility clinic, and due to some snaffu by the staff over 600 women are inseminated with his sperm. The results are 533 kids; now, two decades later, they're all suing to find out the identity of their biological father played by Vince Vaughn.
While silly the movie is actually well done. There are lots of very fine performances by lesser known but very funny comedians. The dialog is well written and the acting is above average. This is one of those movies that, while not memorable nor classic, is really a lot better than it had to be. It's not only funny, it has genuine heart. Cobie Smulders is a bit underused but she's wonderful as usual. Vaughn has some charisma and comes across as very likeable- I guess there's a reason he's still putting butts in the seats.
Again, not a classic but a well done comedy worth a look.
