Bravo Frank and the AVA team!

Scrolling through the comments, I found this howler:

I have an AVA preamp, which became quite decent after I replaced all the crappy parts used in the design. VA doesn't believe in good parts or power cords and the result shows in the lack of artistry, tonal monochromatic, cheap, grey sound. Given the price of products these days, it may be fairly priced. The Krell strikes me as poor value.

Yeah, they only run for 10, 15, 20 years, then you gotta service them. What junk. Puh-LEEZ. I wonder how the re-done pre (my bet would be a "boutique" re-capping) would fare on the bench. I'll stick with stock.

Good to see AVA finally getting its due.

I guess he knows a lot more about designing audio equipment than someone who has been DOOING it for over 40 years.

Where is HIS line of gear?

Funny part is he admits it "may be fairly priced." If he thinks it's worth what he paid for it, what's his beef? Not to mention why is he reading a magazine whose editors clearly can't recognize the "monochromatic, cheap, grey sound"? They must be tone deaf...

At any rate it is good that AVA is getting some well-deserved "props".

Art_Chicago

can someone explain me what "tonal monochromatic" is?

I googled it and came up with a single color shade. I couldn't tell you what it has to do with audio though... I think the dude is tonal blind  :green: Ya, I  just made that up.
