O.K......................I guess then that in the circuit I attached initially, with some modifications, it works better than expected.
Now this is surprising because I was allways dictated to by the so called fact that unless your I.T. is of ''VERY GOOD'' quality, everything will turn to shit. :?

Can't agree in this case where this cheap Hammond would be classed as ''poor quality'' by most die hards, yet sounds decent..............very decent in fact.

The cheap Hammond interstage is ......DEAD :violin:.............heard a sizzling sound, slowly increasing, began to come through the speaker.........................what's that smell???????............and that was that.

Purchased some Audionote copper foil in oil coupling caps and installed one between the 845's............GREAT!................have bass, have dynamics...........better than the last effort with cheap cap or interstage coupling :duh:

Now using a 6SL7 as pre/input stage.............gain is more than adequate.

As I have only had a single channel prototype on test, will build a stereo version this weekend............breadboarded however............I know.........I know
Anyhow, this will be a different ball game to running a pair of horns on mono signal, and will give me an idea of soundstage, depth etc. :)

Hi,

did you use choke as load on first tube plate, connect the capacitor from between the choke and plate to the grid of the output tube and finally, a resistor from the grid of the output stage to ground ?
