I was enjoying the sound of the piano of this SACD so much last night:

I don't know if  this is a realistic recording for a piano, but it was very nice sounding and the music is very good too.

The Tsuyoshi Yamamoto Trio have been around for a long time. You might want to checkout two of their other releases that sound excellent as well, "Misty" and "Midnight Sugar". :)

Three piece jazz trio. Piano, bass, drums.....and very well recorded. Their first releases were on the Three Blind Mice label. Recorded in Japan. Info link.... http://www.tvz.com/TBM/cat_e/yamamoto.htm

Well, there's lots of piano trio styles...say Diana Krall vs Bill Evans vs Oscar Peterson vs The Bad Plus :p  Too bad those ram samples aren't working for me.

Sounds nice :)  It would be even nicer if I could find it used at amoeba here in LA :D  Somehow I imagine this to be a hard to find group.

Definitely more Oscar Peterson resemblance-Evans is a little more laid back. I got my hands on Tsuyoshi Yamamoto's Midnight Sugar last week and I've been listening to it daily. Makes a strong case for SACD-the sound quality is nothing short of spectacular and I must say this is one of the best piano trios in terms of gelling together I've ever heard. Worth the $27 every penny.

Yep, excellent sounding cd. Now, try "Misty"...another excellent one.... http://store.acousticsounds.com/browse_detail.cfm?Title_ID=3092
I have the original "Misty" cd release, and after all these years, still sounds good. 8) [/list:u]
