For Sale: a refurbished vintage Woodside SC27MC tube preamp with moving coil phono section that sounds wonderful.
Woodside electronics was born out of the legendary Radford Electronics company of Bristol, England. Woodside was created by John Widgery, who apprenticed with Radford Electronics and designed many of their products, when Arthur Radford retired.
These units sold quite well in Europe in the late 1990s and early 2000s as they were built with excellent quality with a fair price tag and were based on the higher end SC26 with phono MC/MM. It was typically sold with the Woodside STA 50 which sold for about £1800,- to £2000.
I bought this in July, 2013 from David Lewis Audio in Philadelphia - a very trustworthy and superior audio store. It has a moving coil phono preamp included and it sounds beautiful. I was very happy with its sound using my VPI Traveler with moving coil Zu/Denon cartridge. I am only selling this as I have a new Gen 4/Level 4 Lampizator Dac with optional preamp included and therefore can use it with my Bob's Devices SUP and phono preamp directly into my amp.
