Because the football season is on us...I was reflecting upon my favorite pro football player. Hmm.. I guess that would be the one who always beat MY TEAM, the Los Angeles Rams. Fran Tarkenton was the original backfield escape artist. He had a strong arm, but I don't think he ever won a Super Bowl. In my mind, he was just the best quarterback in the game.

Yeah I agree. Although there are a majority of stand up, great guys in the NFL. The league seems to not care about who they bring in now to make money for the league. I mean look at all the guys who are getting arrested, is it 29? Aaron Hernandez is a case in point...

The Minister of Defense Reggie White!   :thumb:

A record setting Hall Of Fame career who played the game with intensity and decency.
Off the field a compassionate and charismatic person who gave back in the best of ways. http://www.reggiewhitefoundation.org/
Sadly, gone to soon.

Well, Sanders is from my home state of Kansas, so I'm biased. Speaking of character, Sanders was a religious guy and used to give something like 10% of his income to his church. This was before people started creating charities as a way to employ friends and family members, while also getting tax write-offs. Or at least I believe this practice was far less common at the time. Plus, how many truly competitive running backs well on their way to achieving the rushing record would retire prior to doing so out of respect for the fallen great, Walter Payton? :thumb:

Dick "Night Train" Lane.   One of the most competitive players (and fiercest tacklers) of any generation.
