So around 6 months ago I went through a "gotta buy something new" phase and started looking at different phono stages. I ended up buying a few different units and I finally had to move up to a EAR 834 to get what I was looking for.
The Lehmann Audio Black Cube MM/MC phono stage/pre-amp can go against pretty much anything up to units costing several times its cost.
This is the original model and can't get it any more except used. The unit was completely serviced and upgraded with brand new matched ICs in both channels and new caps etc. about 6 months ago by the prior owner. This will prevent you from having any problems with it in the future. It includes power cord and power supply which have both been verified during service.
I see the original, non-upgraded version selling for $300-$400 on Ebay. I am asking $400.00 OBO for this one with the amazing recent service and upgrades performed to it. I would easily put this up against any phono stage under 2k
