connection from BDA-1 to pre or amp

Ladies and gentlemen :thumb:
I was wondering if any one else went this route before as far I hate to be the only one.
Is anybody out there using a very long connection from BDA-1 or any DAC to pre or integrated amp?
If yes, how long? and what would be the downside of doing this.

It would be better if you specified what "very long" was, and whether it was balanced or not.

I would like to run balanced and it will be from 60 to 80 feet.

A balanced cable of that length should be no problem as long as you maintain a low source impedance and a high load impedance (which is generally the case with solid state devices). I suspect the output impedance of the BDA would be quite low, so no worries there. If the source had a high output impedance then the concern is that the higher reactance (frequency dependent resistance caused by capacitance) of the longer cable, combined with a high output impedance of the source creates a low pass filter which adversely affects bandwidth. This distortion of the higher frequencies increases with higher output impedance's. The interconnects capacitance results in a parallel reactance that will roll off the higher frequencies. To put it simply, your highs would suffer. No problems though as long as the preamp you use is a conventional solid state device.

Noise won't be an issue with a balanced interface.

Brucek,
Thank you very much sir. :thumb:
I had to leave the house so I could not explain that what exactly I am trying  to do.
The whole idea started when I found out that I cannot stand the mp3 at all. This garbage which is the great name for mp3 is not listenable at home at all but it might be a great thing in the car or when you travel and you want to kill some time in the airplane. I am remodeling my shop in the basement and for the first time try to play this mp3 while I was working and it did bother me so much till I end up to turn it off and work with no music. :(
I thought about this and this is a work shop and I would never have any expectation about hi-fi but that mp3 is bothering me.
As far I have the BDP-1 and BDA-1, I was thinking to run a output of BDA-1 to a digital integrated amp which would stay in the basement and I could control the BDP-1 right from basement. This would save me space and better sound.
