FS Fostex FF85K with two BLH enclosures

Here are 4 lightly used Fostex FF85K 3" full-range drivers and 2 pairs of back loaded horn cabinets for them. The twin BLH cabinet is the Fostex recommended cabinet, with all four drivers installed into this cabinet it makes for a 4 ohm load and reaches very high volumes with just a few watts.

The second pair of cabinets are a single driver back loaded horn cabinet and are wired with Kimber Kables that measure about 4 feet per speaker. This design was taken from a Nagoaka Tetsuo speaker design book and the model of the design was the horn of the AV88. The AV88 had a horn enclosure and a long slender ported enclosure designed to be surrounds in a multi-channel stereo system. The AV88 horn was specifically designed for the Fostex FF85K, FE83 and FE83E drivers with very low Q specifications. The AV88 also has bass response that is just unbelievable for such a small driver, it is able to reach into the lower 50Hz range with good volume level and even the upper 40Hz range with an audible presence. These drivers were powered with TA2024 Tripath amplifiers as well as an S5 tube amplifier kit years ago. I sold the amplifiers, but kept the speakers just in case I wanted them again. Time to let them go since they have not been used much over the last 5 years. Horns are very difficult to build, many, many hours went into the construction of these fine Baltic Birch cabinets.

Drivers are in excellent condition, cabinets are unfinished and could use a sanding in some areas, great condition otherwise. Absolutely no shipping these, they are way to big and heavy, but I will meet the buyer within 60 miles of 60047 (Chicago area).
