Hi all,
I just got a pair of used marble and noticed the sound quality is quite a bit different compared to another pair of mable 9s that my friends own.  He has a pair of newer 9s with multi cap in the xover.  It sounds a lot more open, dynamic, and transparent compared to mine, at least 30% better than my pair.  I was couries and check out the cap on mine.  I noticed mine are using the Benics Cap.  Will this cap mod will make a 30% improvement over my 9s from his ?

Can someone post the result for AB comparision and if upgrading the xo to Denis's design will improve performance significantly.. Many thanks in advance..

Michael Barnes and Dennis Murphy are going to fight each other in gladatorial combat on pay-per-view cable.  :thumb: Winner will then fight the survivor of the Brian Cheney\GR Danny deathmatch.  Should be really exciting with lots of blood and poked out eyeballs.  Can't wait...

Experience of listening to Dennis Murphy's XO for Norh 9

I ended up tried a pair of Dennis Murphy's demo XO circling around the members community here.  I found the sound is lot more natural and musical in the mid range.  The base is more transparent and airy.  A bit improvement in the dynamic.  The top end is roll off a bit and sounded smoother and less fatiquing. Overall better tonal balance.  After a week of listening to Dennis' , I switched back to the stock xo,  WOW !  I just cannot believe myself would shutdown the system in less than 2 minutes after listened to it and even regret that I didn't do it fast enough..  I ended up ordered all the parts listed on Dennis's website from Sonicraft (Soniccaps, alpher-core inductors and mils resistors).  The result of using these upgraded parts on Dennis's design improved even further on top of what the demo xo provided.
My next step is to find the right second amp to drive the tweeters and leave my Bryston to drive the woofer.

Dennis is a fine gentleman with a good ear so I fully trust his mods to this speaker.

Hi Oris,

Who made your Dennis Murphy XO board?  I could order the parts but I have no DIY ability....

Thanks,

- Jay

Anyone has news on the demo xo from Dennis?  Last time I heard, it was somewhere in Canada.
