Alligator records has some great stuff. Love their samplers.

A bit more in the blies-jazz vein but I also love the "Alternate Blues" with Dizzy, Hubbard, etc.

A good rocker by a great guitarist: Jimmy Thakery "Guitar". Great sounding LP.

One of the best sounding records I own, Kenny Burrell "Midnight Blue" 200 gram 45rpm.

Kenny has been a big influence on many players including Stevie Ray Vaughan. The opener "Chitlins Con Carne" was covered by SRV.
I would think this record would become a popular show demo for you. Not edgy but a must own imo.

+1 on the Kenny Burrell- Midnight Blue. I opted for the less expensive reissue LP with CD (http://www.soundstagedirect.com/kenny-burell-midnight-blue-vinyl-lp-cd.shtml). Sounds great to me.
