Goldnote Valore Italian Job Turntable Purchase
« on: 30 Mar 2013, 05:35 am »
Hi Guys,

Just ordered a Goldnote valore turntable but ordered a special edition one with only 50 units made.  The platter is wrapped in Italian  red leather, uses the bellavista spindle/bearing, motor and babele cartridge.  I also ordered a replacement motor and belt for my old goldnote piccolo turntable and I will have 2 turntable to play with.  There is no aussie dealer here and I'm buying direct from the manufacturer.  I'll let you know what I think of it once its up and running in my system.

Cheers Rod

Hi,

I've had a bit of trouble with the bluenote piccolo since 2005.  I had to replace the motor but wasn't aware that the new design altered the platter pulley height.  Its taken me forever to resolve the issue.  A friend used his lathe to make a spacer for me and issue is resolved now.  I haven't used the turntable for quite a few years.  I bought the gold note valore italian job because I thought it was good value and uses a number of components from the higher end bellavista turntable.

I'll let you know what I think about the turntable.  I have a denon dl103 which I'm thinking about sending zu for their modification.

Hi,

Yes that is the turntable that I've ordered but mine is finished in red leather.  Its a compact design using a smaller length tonearm.

I'm using a Goldenote Boboli HOMC cart and absolutely love it. Their TTs are really good as well.

Hi Guys,

Finally got this all dialled in now.  I didn't like the goldnote babele or shelter 301 cartridges that I used initially.  I bought a denon dl103 and stuck and isoteknic stabiliser on it.  I then had to buy an add on counterweight to get it weighted correctly.  The turntable, cartridge and phonostage combo works great.  My daughter can't believe that vinyl sounds this good.

Cheers Rod

ps almost finished fixing the bluenote piccolo turntable and just need to add a smaller counterweight and its ready to go to local shop for repair.

Curious as to why you did not care for the Boboli cart. Very surprising to hear.

Hi,

I've never heard the boboli but had the babele cartridge which is basically an AT95 cartridge.  In comparison with the denon dl103 it lacked transparency and the bass was overpowering.  Its a good entry level cartridge.

At some point in the future I'd like to go for a more expensive goldnote cartridge but I can't afford it at this stage.
