This  player is still getting better. Using all balanced between amps has brought out even greater sound. So glad  I got an spare CD1  :thumb: :banana piano:

Hello,
last summer I bought a spare BCD-1, as soon as Mr. Tanner announced that they ceased the production of this player, and before they become rare and expensive as well.

Does anyone else regret discontinue of BCD-1 CD Player?

I've got a Bryston BCD-1 and absolutely love it!   :thumb:

My wife uses it extensively as she is a little tech-challenged and is still not comfortable using the BDP-2.

I love mine and I have resisted buying a backup.

Everyone keeps telling me to go digital and once I do I will never use the BCD-1 again.  Even if I get the digital gear I am keeping the BCD-1 for the same reason Samurai mentioned and I just like spinning discs.

I have been waiting for my dealer to get a BDA-2 I can audition along with a BDP-1, BDP-2 and JF-II.  Then I have to convince myself it sounds $5,000 better than the BCD-1.  Pretty much everyone here seem to be really happy with theirs so at some point I will probably make the plunge.  I am also concerned that cd's may become tough to find, but probably not before these old ears give out.

Good listening,
Mike

I have a BCD-1 feeding a BDA-2.  Given the proper cabling, it will sound better than having the BCD-1 do the digital conversion.  The BDA-2 feeds the BP-17 preamp via single ended cables and the BHA-1 headphone amp via balanced cables.  I've gone all digital and that includes the BCD-1.  I even feed music in iTunes on a MacBook Pro to the BDA-2 via a USB cable.  I use the BR-2 remote to select sources via the BDA-2.  Only analog sources are switched on the BP-17 preamp.  Right now that's music streamed from Macs in other rooms or a cassette deck.

I agree in buying a very good cable and power cable also. I decked out my BCD1 (and the whole Bryston system for that matter) with all cardas clear xlr and power cable and it sounds greatly improved. The amount of details, harmonics, nuances and subtleties in the recording is incredible however, if you do it to one component you must do it to all for full improvement.  :D
