Consignment Store Cabinet
« on: 4 Jul 2013, 08:39 pm »
My wife found the greatest piece of furniture in a local consignment store.
It looked like just a normal old small bureau but something made her open it up to take a look and then she ran home to get me.
It's an old album storage cabinet!  It took me about 2 seconds to make up my mind about buying it.
Some lemon oil and it came right back to life and it's just the coolest thing.
Good find, Lynda!

The bins are labeled Classical, Instrumentals, Album Books, Male Vocalists, Female Vocalists, Dance Music and Popular.
Real wood, no MDF and veneer.  They don't make stuff like this any more which is a shame.

If you're going to make your own, on the inside right is a slotted steel strap and it uses a knurled friction screw so it doesn't just flop down and out when you open it up.  The inside left has another slotted steel strap but I don't see any friction screw.
I'm sure that there's DIY drawings available, perhaps PDR would know?

Awesome find for sure! :thumb: That's what I need to take the place of my simple open shelves full of vinyl that my wife thinks look like #%*#+! :cuss:

Nice find.  I wish someone would consider making something like that commercially.
Sure would help this hobby get more WAF.  :D

Hi Steve and all Audio Circle members.
Lots of people say:
{{ They don't make them like that anymore. }}
Why the manunufacturers are lot listening and offer again
(Even on a limited edition) those beautiful and long lasting items.
(I am not only talking about furniture).
