Brought a very unique (at the time) organ sound to The Doors. One of the bands that clearly defined the 60's.

I just saw that - what terrible news.
The Doors were the greatest American band ever for my money.

Shocking news!  Ray has always been one of my favorite keyboard players.  Condolences to his family and R.I.P Ray.

I saw them perform shortly after Jim was arrested in Florida for indecent exposure. Ray was a very vital part of their sound and success IMO. RIP

I just heard as well - RIP.  I had no idea he was ill - loved his work just a few years back with Weird Al - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y4sALru9IJk

time waits for no one - seems like just the other day....

listening to Doors Live at the Bowl '68 tonight - recorded 45 year ago.

Had a dinner table discussion with my boys (29 and 22) who thought Riders on the Storm was the signature song - had never heard of Light My Fire, and oh yeah that song from Apocalypse Now - something about the end is amazing.

Saw Ray and Robby last fall doing 2 hours of Doors songs. Most enjoyable evening. No idea he was ill.

When the musics over, turn out the lights.
