Iconic movie scenes and its music
« on: 23 May 2013, 02:52 am »
I just watched Hitchcock with Anthony Hopkins (recommended by the way) and was thinking during the shower scene that the strident music is now as famous as the scene itself.  Just make that shrieking sound with a stabbing motion and everyone over 50 knows what scene it refers to.  And I began to wonder what other music is so tightly bound to a movie scene that their identities are now bound.  So I submit the following..... any others?

The scene from Goodfellas where the (piano exit) from Derek and the Dominos' "Layla" is playing.
I remember thinking at the time that the matching of such a beautiful piece of music with such a
chaotic movie scene was f-ing brilliant. I still do.

Bob Dylan's tune sang when Slim Pickens is fatally wounded and character wife Katy Jurado looks on in "Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid" tho that might not quality as iconic :dunno:.  The theme from The Third Man can't be separated from the movie.  That's an old one for ya's.
