PHILIPS DVD-963SA HIGH PERFORMANCE MODIFICATIONS!
The Philips 963SA is a great sounding player stock, it is CHEAP, and has alot of hidden potential. We take it to a much further level than one would ever expect. So much more realism, wider soundstages, blacker backgrounds, emotion, resolution, refined bass, attack, etc etc etc... If you want even more performance, then we have your solution with even extra options to choose from. We can take these above some of the best off the shelf players for a mere fraction of the price!
Modification Descriptions
-Standard Mod AV Board/SMPS Power Supply upgrades

AV Board Capacitor Upgrades-
We add and replace specific critical capacitors on the AV Board with Rubycon ZL/ZA Capacitors! These offer higher ripple currents and lower impedances than any other cap and sound much better than the phasing out Blackgates. Major improvement! The background becomes blacker, and instruments emerge like they are so real. A definite change in total sonic tonality and character!
Switched Mode Power Supply upgrade-
We replace critical capacitors and diodes in the SMPS with Rubycon ZL/ZA and Stealth Ultra Soft recovery Diodes. These new diodes give the unit a "tubelike" sound to the unit from our listening sessions. We replace the stock smoothing cap with an Exotic Jensen 4-pole version which provides increased performance over 2-poles design which "push" noise, the Jensen blocks noise and decouples. Also, we re-engineer the board and eliminate some energy robbing devices. This brings much more resolution, better defined and deeper bass and more sonic character. This really makes this player sound cleaner, more robust and authoritive. This upgrade also makes the video portion look/sound better as well.! Great Upgrade!
ACME Audio Labs Cryogenicly treated Silver IEC connector-
This will replace the stock flimsy IEC connector. Better power transfer characteristics, definitely improves the sound!
Sound Deadening Material added-
We add sound deadening material to the top lid for increased vibration isolation inside the unit.

LC Audio XO3 Reference Clock Upgrade ($300 Installed)-
We add a reference quality jitter reduction circuit called a LC Audio XO3 , this a major improvement in overall sound! This replaces the master clock and offers much lower jitter rate than the stock cmos type oscillator. Expanded soundstages and accurate instrument definitions for example are the many outcomes of this major mod component. Please keep in mind that since this is the new replacement for the LC Audio X02 clock, this clock is considerably more expensive, but brings even more performance to the table. We have installed many of these in DVD-963SA units with 100% results and great performance. Please give the unit well over 300 hours to break-in with this clock. Bonus! WE ARE NOW INCLUDING A PROPRIETARY C37 TWEAK TO THE CLOCK BOARD AND WE MAKE A VERY SPECIAL SILVER WIRE CABLE TO REPLACE THE STOCK LC AUDIO CABLE INCLUDED FOR HOOKUP. THE RESULTS ARE AMAZING! ESTIMATED COST FOR THESE TWEAKS ARE $75, THEY ARE NOW INCLUDED FREE WITH THIS MOD PACKAGE!!

Jensen 4-pole Electrolytic Capacitor tweak for Clock- ($60 Installed)-
We install a 4-pole Electrolytic capacitor for the LC Audio XO3 Clock. These have a unique ability of reducing power supply distortion while at the same time remaining very fast and natural. Such a clear and audible improvement delivering more resolution, texture, dynamics, and liveliness. We wire this with Exotic Audio Consulting 24awg silver wire w/natural unbleached cotton tubing. A must if you desire the best! Great upgrade!

New Slipstream Bybee Purifiers-($180 Installed for pair)-
We install two Bybee filters at the Analog Output of the player to eliminate any 1/F noise thus providing much smoother midrange characteristics and greatly improves instrument location/outlines! The new slipstream versions are alittle smaller (still have the same specs) and with the new nanovalve technology they provide even more performance!

Silver Slipstream Bybee Purifier (for LC Audio X03 Clock, $170 Installed)-
We install a new technology Slipstream Silver Bybee quantum purifier to eliminate any 1/F noise and quantum noises through the clock signal of the unit. This has even more performance characteristics over the previous silver versions. When transmitting digital information, the Slipstream Silver Bybee Quantum Purifier eliminates the overshoot and ringing that can occur in the leading edge of the square wave. This type of distortion is a major contributor to the harshness and glare often associated with digital sound. Talk about a major increase in low level detail and resolution. It really makes it sound as the clock is more accurate. What a drastic change in overall sound, even over the regular bybees. You need to hear the silver bybee difference today!

Herbies Audio Lab Tenderfeet-($45 Installed)-
We replace the stock crappy feet with 4 herbies audio labs tenderfeet. There is a difference in sound! Subtle but noticable! The stock plastic feet are not good! These do work! And now the unit feels like it has some Authority in vibration control.

Copper or Silver Wire Transformer Output Stage Mod ($500 Installed for Copper, $750 Installed for Silver)-
Here it is! Now you can get very stunning resolution and dynamics from our Signature Transformer Output Stage exclusively using Audio Consulting Silver wired transformers! These transformer are very rare, handmade and come direct from Switzerland! This totally redefines the Philips DVD-963SA output stage, which squashes dynamics and resolution and is very slow sounding in our opinion. Also now we can effectively and inherently provide galvanic isolation. Music is much quieter, cleaner, more resolute with no lack of dynamics! You will be stunned! Much more music, emotion, and drive. The Copper versions offer great resolution/dynamics and performance without breaking the bank, and still sound much better than other transformers and others output stages. The Silver versions offer the same as the coppers but more resolution and vividness to the music and sound cleaner/faster. Select either Copper or Silver, Please do not select both on the checklist

Copper or Silver WBT NextGen 2ch. Analog Out Upgrade ($75 Installed for Copper, $125 Installed for Silver)-
We replace the stock flimsy RCA connectors for the 2ch. output with the WBT NextGen connectors. If you do not use the component video output and only as a 2ch. audio player, then we can install these WBT's in the holes left over from taking out the component video board. We can also drill them into the rear of the unit as well. The copper version works better than any other RCA female we've tried. The Silver version is just better. We HIGHLY Recommend to use these connector when getting our copper or silver transformer output stage. These are a no eddy current design and offer better signal transfers characteristics than other connectors. Great upgrade! Select either Copper or Silver WBT Versions
