from balanced to unbalanced: volume up, deeper soundstage

HI,

Today I had to play the Bp26 unbalanced again, and after having played balanced for more than 3 years without changing that, we heard an immediate difference. Because I set it all up, I was prepared for some changes, but my house mate didn't know, and when we watched todays episode of Dexter, right from the intro-tune she asked me had i changed something in the system.
Particularly the Bass-part of it all, combined with the fine percussive tingling highs in this music were more noticeable.

Could this have to do with the fact that in unbalanced setup, I can turn the volume up more compared to the balanced setup, in which a setting below 8 o'clock is next to being too loud, and thus not letting the bp26 do its job properly (or the attached 28b's for that matter)?

Thanks,
Marius

In my set up going balanced has been the better method. My CD1 all the way to the power amp has   improved detail and soundstage as well as dynamics. I opted for the Bryston  ( Van Damne ) connectors. :thumb: :singing:
