SAS Audiolabs Launches A Speaker

I'm a fan of Steve's electronics, having owned his 11A preamp for some time.  I found this unit to be a stellar performer.

Now Steve has designed a speaker, and while I haven't heard it I'm sure it will be on par with his electronics.  Here's a link:

I had a chance to hear the prototypes in a system that included an SAS 11A and SAS 50wpc push pull amps.  The speakers imaged like crazy and sounded very good.

I preferred the SAS tube mono's to my NCore amp but I'm not even sure if the amps are commercially available.  They gave more body to the music with all of the detail and coherence of the Ncore.  I was shocked because I really like the Ncore amps.  Also, the 50 PP wats per channel were more than enough for my system.

Steve is a unique guy and all of his designs sound great to me.  The speakers are no exception.

Cheers

Congrats Steve. I hope I get a chance to hear these someday. I am curious which full range driver is used, if you are sharing?
Thanks for the link catastophe

I had a chance to hear a pair of Tang Band's in old cabinets this past fall. I was very impressed,
very clean, tonally accurate, dynamic, natural sounding, clearly beating what I had. I saw the
potential to match them with some Scanspeaks and came up with the 1.5 prototype.

I now have two features.

1) Variable bass damping for personal tastes

2) Variable mid/high response.

It has been apparent to me that electronics has been one of the
limiting aspects in designing great speakers. And with these two controls, I believe it
is possible to achieve quality reproduction in more varied venues, and with
other electronics.

It would be nice to have a get together when the current tours end.

Cheers and thanks Cat for bringing my 1.5s to the publics attention.

For the viewers information, I have tweeked them since Jack heard them, as we
found the bass to be a little strong. But the soundstage is just as tremendous, his
description is accurate.

Steve, my ten year old son said he would be happy to go to Bob's house for the demo if you bring down a couple of pizza breads and gondolas from Avanti's. Even though Liam is born and raised in St. Louis, he still recognizes a superior sammie. He even prefers the Northwoods restaurant to the Main Street site, but beggers can't be choosers.

Bernie's SAS pre sounded quite good the other day!

Avanti's is a great place isn't it.  :D
Hope to see you at Bob's when the preparations are made.
Should be great fun and if I remember correctly, St. Louis is
also a great place for food.

Cheers.

ps. Avanti's bread will be brought.  :D

Steve,
I hope you bring those amps.  They were the best I have ever heard.  I honestly never knew a tube could be so articulate and transparent.  They sounded better than my Ncore amp and I love the Ncore.

Best of luck,
Jack

Thanks Jack. Yes, we will bring them along with Bob's amps, it should
be very enjoyable.

Cheers.
